Ongoing private GP oversight when you or your family are abroad, including quiet coordination with trusted local providers.
If you travel frequently, divide your time between countries or have family living overseas, it helps to have one doctor who knows your history and can stay involved wherever you are. International and remote‑care support from Medic Privé offers calm, continuous oversight, so health questions abroad do not become crises.
This service is designed for members whose lives naturally cross borders – executives travelling for work, families with homes in different countries, or relatives living overseas. The focus is on continuity: one GP who understands the full picture, even when care is delivered locally.
You keep the same private GP wherever you are, so your history, preferences and existing plans travel with you, rather than starting again in each country.
When you become unwell abroad, you have a doctor who can help you decide whether to seek local care, what to ask for and how urgent the situation really is.
International families often value quiet coordination behind the scenes, with a single, trusted physician helping to align advice from multiple clinics and specialists.
We start by mapping where you and key family members spend time, any existing conditions and the types of situations that are most likely to arise, so we can anticipate needs rather than simply react.
You have agreed channels – often direct phone or secure video – to contact me when you are away. We review symptoms, existing results and local advice, and decide together on the safest, most practical next step.
If local tests or consultations are arranged, results can be shared back for interpretation in context. I help connect the dots, adjust ongoing plans where needed, and ensure important findings are not lost once you return.
International and remote‑care support works best for planned travel, non‑emergency symptoms, second opinions and joining up care between providers. It is ideal when you want reassurance, structure and continuity around decisions being made in different countries.
It is not a substitute for local emergency services. If you develop severe chest pain, stroke‑like symptoms, major injury, heavy bleeding or any other urgent problem while abroad, you must seek immediate in‑person care. Where possible, I can help you interpret local advice afterwards and integrate it into your wider health plan.
If you are planning a specific trip or facing a complex situation abroad, you can book a single consultation to review risks, medications and contingency plans, or to make sense of local investigations.
For many international families and frequent travellers, this service is woven into Medic Privé membership, with direct access, coordinated referrals and flexible appointment times designed around different time zones. Exact entitlements are outlined on the membership comparison page.
Whilst prescriptions and tests cannot be arranged, from the UK when you are abroad, we can advise what might be suitable based on your symptoms at the time. However, if you are abroad and wish to arrange a test in the UK, if you let us know your time of arrival, we can coordinate with the test centre to arrange this for you, so that you are not waiting around on return.
In an emergency, if you run out of medication, we can arrange to supply this for you. However, this will incur sourcung and transportation costs. The preferable option is that prior to leaving, we will look at your schedule and work out how much medication you need .and prescribe enough to cover your trip so that this situation is less likely to occur.
Whilst we can give suggestions based on your symptoms If you develop a significant illness whilst abroad, it is vital to seek face-to-face clinical care in the country you are in, rather than relying upon remote consultation.
If you or your family divide your lives between countries, or simply spend a great deal of time travelling, you are welcome to discuss international and remote‑care support. The aim is to keep one clear medical thread running through your care, wherever you happen to be.
