When travel, work or family commitments make it hard to be seen in person, I offer calm, unhurried consultations by video or phone wherever you are in the world.
Online consultations are best for issues that can be safely managed without a physical examination, or where we already know each other and need to review progress.
Online appointments sit alongside in‑home and clinic visits, giving flexibility without sacrificing continuity or discretion.
You may be travelling, working late or between meetings; an online consultation allows you to speak to me from your office, home or hotel without losing time to travel.
Many patients value being able to speak to a doctor who already knows their history while they are overseas, before deciding what to do locally.
Online works well for reviewing results, adjusting treatment and checking in on ongoing issues, especially when we have already met in person.
You or your assistant contact my team, outlining the main reason for the call and your time zone; if your symptoms sound like an emergency, you will be directed to local urgent care services instead.
At the agreed time, we connect via a secure video link or telephone; I confirm key details, listen to your concerns and ask focused questions to build a clear picture.
By the end of the call, you will know whether we can safely manage things remotely, whether tests or imaging are needed, or whether an in‑person review is advisable; prescriptions and referrals are arranged where appropriate.
Many issues can be started or fully managed online, but there are important safety limits. Online consultations are not appropriate for emergencies such as sudden chest pain, stroke‑like symptoms, severe breathlessness, heavy bleeding or major injury; in these situations, you must seek immediate in‑person emergency care. When in doubt during our triage, we will always err on the side of safety.
Online consultations are available to both members and non‑members.
You can book a stand‑alone online consultation if you need timely advice, a second opinion or guidance while travelling, subject to clinical suitability.
Online appointments are typically included as part of your membership benefits, with direct access, rapid response times and integrated follow‑up alongside home and clinic visits; exact entitlements are outlined on the membership comparison page.
For all patients younger than 16, the parent or guardian will be the main point of contact. However, it is always useful to have the child on the call as well. Should you wish to discuss care for another family member, e.g.an older relative, we would first need their express consent for you to do so. Once provided, we are happy to discuss their care with the nominated individual.
On joining the membership scheme, you will be provided with a mobile phone number as a point of contact. You can always send simple queries to this number, such as enquiring about appointment times, repeat prescriptions, or other administrative issues. However, it is generally best to book a scheduled call to discuss clinical matters to ensure robust documentation processes are met.
All video calls are conducted via a secure video link. We do not encourage clinical communication via platforms such as WhatsApp. When you are undertaking a video or telephone consultation, we request that you choose a quiet, private location to carry this out, somewhere you will not be disturbed or overheard. From our side, we will always maintain the utmost privacy and confidentiality.
If you need timely, discreet medical advice, whether you are travelling, at work or at home, an online consultation is a simple way for us to talk things through and agree a clear plan.
